SONDEKA FESTIVAL: THE RETURN!

Sondeka Festival 2026 Poster

Kenya August 2026 The first event of Creatives Garage 2026 UKKE Season kicked off the Legacy Project the only way we know how to: awesomely. (don’t believe us? Check it out here) And now, to celebrate that kick off, Sondeka Festival is back!

You might remember this greatness as being one of the only festivals to go fully online during COVID; but what we want to remind you about today is this: Sondeka is one of the biggest gatherings of innovative creatives across Kenya, and the beginning of many artistic associations that result in amazing platforms for legends such as H_art The Band, Mercy Myra, Euticus, and more. We bring you the coolest before you even know it’s cool!

This year is no different. On stage, we’ll have the musical stylings of Njoki Karu, Billy Black, Koso Koseso, Shishi Wanj, Breathren, and Kadawa (kama dawa). There’ll also be fashion shows with live runways and fresh designers, live music, Kenyan and international film screenings, games the way we do it, a creative market, annnnd a Scavenger Hunt to scratch that inventive undercover private detective itch. The talent? Set. Lineup? Fire. All we need is YOU.

Did we mention that entry is 100% FREE? Register here to come through on September 12 to The Junction Mall from noon to 9 pm. Be ready to have your mind excited, enthralled, entertained, and enlightened. The countdown begins now!

The Creatives Garage Legacy Project createss platforms for artists, audiences, and collaborators to engage with new ideas, experiment across disciplines, and build sustainable creative ecosystems. They focus on creating meaningful public experiences that leave behind stronger networks, new collaborations, cultural documentation, and innovative approaches to storytelling.

Operating on the ethos of a community reminiscent of a typical African village, Creatives Garage cultivates a thriving community and builds a robust ecosystem for artists to connect, learn, share ideas, collaborate, create new works, gain market access, and push boundaries. Over the past thirteen years, Creatives Garage has grown into a powerful multidisciplinary arts organization, supporting over 15,000 creatives across disciplines such as film, theatre, publishing, podcasting, photography, XR, music, and AI. The principle is that of a modern African village; collaborative, inclusive, and community-rooted, where creators connect, learn, co-create, and thrive. Through training, collaborative productions, and market access, we empower artists to grow creatively and economically, becoming active contributors to Kenya’s creative economy. From publishing books to producing podcasts, creating films, and exploring virtual worlds, we embrace both traditional and emerging technologies to push the boundaries of African storytelling. Our work sparks dialogue, challenges dominant narratives, and celebrates the richness and complexity of African cultures. At Creatives Garage, we center radical creativity, cultural expression, and social impact, using art as a tool for empowerment, advocacy, and transformation.
