The Gladiator sequel finally graces our screens! It was well worth the wait. See, the swords are as sharp as can be, and the spears are bigger and the arrors and archers are badder! Gladiator I introduced us to the carnage of the roman society which brewd a man forced to be so cold from the grim nature of his time, that he could not have dreamt of anything but his survive. Gladiator II took its sweet two decades to develop a continuation where the title gladiator has been franchised by the opportunistic 'Master of Gladiators'. The times have obviously changed in this Roman empire, which now runs under the rule of the twin emporers whose reward for goodness extended towards them is cruelty, you could only wonder about the kind of punishment for those that dare defy them.
Showing a time when the people are hungrier, and angrier, on the flipside, the royal's parties are bigger and merrier. But when the city gets a hold of their supposed new gladiator, they are in for a rude shock. They do not just get a man that's ready to kill for survival, but instead, a man that dares to dream against all odds.
As the dots between the past and the present connect, the show presents more intimately, delving deeper into the characters relationships with each other, not forgetting the long-kept dire secrets that start to spill.
And as the chaos emerge and find their place in the city, so does the man who thrives in it all with swagga! Denzel Washington's debut on this show doesn't come as a surprise per se(not anymore hehe), but he does show off his prowess as he completely embodies a self assured character of the olden days, yet quirky and playful, lightening the mood even while revealing a more controversial angle to the plot. Man! Theres nothing like a seasoned actor on a periodic movie.
Need I tell you that there's a tonne of bloodshed, or do you know how this goes? Okay, take a hint! Iron crushing on iron!
We had a great time at the premier, thanks to Century Cinemax who invited us to an exclusive premier of the movie. And now, you are all officially welcome to watch it in all Cinemas.
