Watch: Mo-Faya By Reuben Odanga

The latest Kenyan addition to Netflix, Mo-Faya, premieres on December 20th, 2024. This seven-part series is mainly based in Nairobi, with Western Kenya making debuts that showcase Kenya's diverse culture and geography. Odanga shares that the show aims to expose the crucial role that proper parenting serves in the upbringing of stable, healthy, and generally wholesome adults. It also holds a mirror to society, challenging the contrasts that at times exist between social media and real life.

Mo Faya takes viewers through the life of Zawadie, who, while dealing with the discovery of dark family secrets, ends up in the middle of her boyfriend's double life; a world of crime.

Intrigue

You can expect drama and some undertones of a telenovela in this Multan production that's distributed by Okada Media. Zawadi comes across some unsettling family secrets as most of us, unfortunately, do right when we discover that adulthood isn't all that we were told it was, *sigh. This leaves her distraught and she makes the decision to move in with her boyfriend, Brian (Brayo, enough said). She's in for a rollercoaster because she discovers more secrets in her new life, with Brian being involved in crime and inevitably introducing her into his dark world.

It's fair to say that this is one for all generations, with the younger crowd being well-represented in the cast. Fresh faces and impressive acting are delivered by Brahim Ouma from Pepeta and Lorna Lemmy from Nairobby alongside newcomers Tobit Tom and Mathew Ngugi. The supporting cast features Cate Rira, a media personality, Basil Mungai from Kina, Alex Mwakideu from Nafsi, and Tessy Njine from Selina.

The story's written by Edijoh Mwaniki who's behind "Lost in Time," so you're bound to enjoy the twists and turns. The executive producers are Jacqueline Musyoka and Reuben Odanga, produced by Margaret Wanjiru Muriithi. Set the date to catch this entertaining mini-series that will premiere on Netflix and follow soon on other platforms. And don't forget to come back after it airs to find out what we think about it at Geekspeak!
